Surgery was 5 days ago. Doing well. Knee range at 80, small scar. Severe Problems with constipation because of pain killers. Trying all kinds of remedies but may have to go off meds sooner than i hoped. They sent me home after 1 night in hospital. Now I have home health workers and PT specialists visiting. Not sure if I would do it again. Lots of pain 2-3days. Ask me again after few weeks.

How do I thank the person who has cared for me through all this? The person who has made me feel safe while the meds made me feel so out of it. Any ideas?

Not sure when you posted this but I am two weeks away from my TRKR. I realize I have a difficult surgery ahead of me- I'm just trying to get my brain wrapped around what to expect during recovery. I do better when not surprised- lol! Just curious as to how things are going for you now~

HeySuz. Congratulations on making the decision. I wish I could say it's easy but...it's damn hard! I don't know how independent you are but be ready to allow others to do for you. There are moments of real pain but most pain meds help- they made me sleepy a lot. Do you want to know any specifics? Ask whatever. I'll do my best to answer honestly.

It's now been 19 days since surgery. Nights are definitely more painful than daytime. Seriously painful PT, trying to get the correct knee bend and extension is slow going. Walking without any assistance or cane but still can be a little wobbly when first standing up. Trying to work 4-5 hours 4 days a week but I miss time to put my leg up and ice it in middle of the day. Missing my independence - driving.

Week 9, feeling pretty good. back to work almost full time. Still have to go home early a couple days per week to ice & elevate. minor discomfort at night so taking Meloxicam and an occasional aspirin. PT 2 x week. Good range of motion and bend but not rushing it. Resumed most of my pre surgery activities except dancing because of lateral moves. Leg still feels heavy and little stiff and i get tired sooner when walking.
Would I do this again? Probably, but now I know what to expect.

Pmorales here again! Had 2nd knee done 4 months ago- TKR. Doing well. completed 10 weeks of PT and it made a world of difference. I’m walking & taking stairs when I can. Completely worth the surgery. My advice is have a total instead of partial when possible, do the pt hard work, and have someone to help you for the first 3 weeks.
