I am only a spry 36 years old. I have a loving wife and three wonderful kids. I knew it was time to have a replacement (partial, in my case) when I couldn't keep up with them all. My family was planning activities and events around me. That's a horrible feeling.
A bit of my backstory. I spent 15 years in the military. When I was 17, I could jump off a lot of things with zero reprocussions. Nearly 20 years later, I am paying for it.
I have tried just about every single treatment modality out there. These have (in order) included: meniscal transplant, cortisone injections, partial menisectomy, hyluronic acid treatment, another partial menisectomy, more cortisone, PT, microfracture surgery, more cortisone, OATS procedure, cleanout surgery, and once again, more cortisone.
My surgeon has decided that it's time. I agree, and would have years ago. My surgery, a lateral partial knee replacement with a tibial tubercle transfer, is less than two weeks away. I have turned into a mixed bag of excitement, worry, and downright dread.
Hope this helps you out in some way shape or form.

I’m right there with ya. Army did me in after 12-years. did everything possible under the sun until there were no other options. I became very depressed for the first time in my life. 6.5 weeks post op and I’m hopeful. good luck to you and hope this surgery worked out for you! hoah!
