Tired of Pain

I have finally decided that I'm tired of the pain due to arthritis & not being able to do the simple things. I stand & look at a curb or small step as a big challenge & have to prepare myself for the discomfort I know will follow. Last x-rays showed Bone on Bone in both knees. I have been dealing with it for 3 1/2 years. Cortisone for first 2 years then gel injections (Synvese) twice this year. I ride a Harley & have for 27 years along the side of my husband. I was not able to ride this past Spring/Summer due to pain. I was not even able to ride behind him. I'm ready....lots of anxiety and scared. Medications I've been on is Celebrex & tramadol. I know recovery & rehab will be intensive. Any advice will be truly appreciated.

I just got my right knee done Jan 6 2016. I have severe arthritis (bone on bone) like you. I look back at how my knees have run my life for too many years. I will tell you that the first 24 hours were the worst for me but once we got the pain meds figured out (everybody is different) it has been relatively pain free. I am very tired and kinda foggy brained but that's to be expected with the meds. I'd tell you to go for it. you sound ready to get your life back. Good luck!

I had my right tkr the end of May. My PCP has taken me off Celebrex as it was compromising my kidneys. I'm taking a pain pill as seldom as possible, must have for PT. This is no joke. Couldn't go to the bathroom even with stool softners, couldn't control the other as it would be coming out before you could sit down. Remember, everyone heals differently. Even today, I can't step down steps one after the other. I still have a cane, practice a few steps without it. Healing has a lot to do with your DNA. They kept reminding me not to compare yourself with others. I was depressed and through this site a lot of people said they were too. I still don't have enough motor switching skill and strength to drive. I'm so angry about that was always so independent. The ugliest is behind me, but I still have pain. I pray for healing every night. I pray you will be one of people with an extremely quick recovery. Take it easy, rest often, do what they tell you. I thought I would be a lot further but my surgeon also had to straighten my bone. I have hyper sensitivity on my scar and ankle. Reason you don't sleep. Let me know how you are coming along.

Its amazing the differences of how people heal. It is sometimes hard to hear people's stories claiming they've had no pain.
For some, that hard to believe. Its hard not to compare yourself or worry that something is wrong when there is such a wide range of experiences.
I am 7 weeks post op and I still have pain. Had my right knee replaced July 15. I know I'm progressing, but I do get discouraged at times. Night time is still very hard. I found that putting a pillow between my knees helps. I was hoping to be free of pain for a little while, as Oct 14---I am having my left knee done. I'm scared and hope it goes smoother then the first. I made it this far, there's no going back! I too have lived many years just about disabled. My knees were none on bone. My legs wee starting to bow. I if l
