I'm 74 y/0 and had surgery 8/17/20. This journey so far has been not nearly as bad as I had anticipated. By the end of the second week I was not using any walker/cane. Cut back on meds by half and only used Tylenol Extra strength when needed. Started driving by 31/2 weeks short distance. I really think the pre-op therapy I did made all the difference in my recovery. I just Googled exercises for pre TKR and started doing them 2 months before my surgery to strengthen my quads and knees muscle. Also I bought a recumbent stationary bike to use after surgery for range of motion. I did all of the therapy at home after surgery and it does take commitment and perseverance, but you have to put the work in to get results. Do lots of walking also. At my post op 6 weeks visit range of motion was 120. I have good and bad days just like everyone else but all in all I feel positive in the out come and as we all know the healing can take up to a year.
