2 Weeks Post-Op

Saw my OS today for my first postop visit. He was impressed with my range of motion, particularly since I had a contracture prior to surgery that kept me from reaching full extension. My Steri-Strips are off, my wound is healed, I can take a shower! Unfortunately, I can't shave my legs yet. I'm still on Lovenox and aspirin to prevent a DVT. I guess hairy legs are not worth bleeding to death over! I'm taking pain medicine 2 to 3 times a day, depending on how much it hurts at night when I'm trying to sleep. My doc said that was normal for this stage. So far this is not been bad at all. I already wished I done it years ago. I will definitely not wait so long to do the left one.

I'm scheduled for my knee replacement in 6 days. Honestly, how bad has the pain been. I'm scared to death.

wow, you are doing great. Which day is it for you, 14 or 20? Reason asking is because today is day 14 for me. I got staples out 2 days ago and wear steri strips until next week. My post op is next Friday=day 22. I've been over doing it which has caused me to swell which reduced my ROM. I measured 82 today and I was 90. Dr. wants 95 in 8 days. yikes. How much activity r u doing? My fit bit id 2k/3k most days light housework.

Hi I am day 7 post op and the pain is so bad with my meds I normally take for my fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis it just dulls it a little. My surgery was outpatient so I don't know if that affects anything , but I haven't had pt yet just evaluated 2 days ago with 3 exercises to do. Am I the only one feeling so much pain? It's 5:21am .

Yanksfan63,

It's very common to have a lot of pain one week out from surgery. Try to stay ahead of it with medicines. Always keep in mind the importance of ice, elevation, rest, and exercise.
